Our History

EEI was founded in 1972 in Putney, Vermont by John D. Elliot. Known as a proper English gentleman, John was a bright and motivated mechanical engineer who held his employees and clients in high regard.  The firm continued to expand, and an office was opened in Topsham, Maine in 1977.

Ownership of the firm transferred to five employees in 1985, which coincided with broadening our client base beyond the core pulp and paper market. Steve Brooks led the growth into the government sector, specializing in design of Petroleum, Oil, and Lubricants (POL) systems for the United States Department of Defense.  EEI expanded services to Alaska and opened an office in Anchorage in 1993. EEI opened a third office in Honolulu, Hawaii in 2018 to support ongoing project work in the Pacific Rim.

After 40+ years of continuous service, EEI now employs over 70 individuals including civil, structural, and mechanical engineers, surveyors, designers, and support staff who provide high quality engineering and excellent client service.
