Construct POL Operations Building

EEI provided engineering design and construction services for a new Petroleum, Oil, and Lubricants (POL) Operations Facility at Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson (JBER) Alaska. The new facility replaces the existing POL operations facilities. The main goal of the project was to consolidate POL operations at JBER, provide safer more efficient daily POL operations by co-locating the operations building and refueler parking areas, and reduce travel times and fuel costs.

The Facility included an Operations building with a fuels laboratory, and vehicle parking aprons with canopies providing shelter for 28 refuelers. EEI incorporated arctic design requirements for all elements including the building envelope, pavement, covered parking, utilities, and engine heater outlets. Cost effective energy conserving features including energy management control systems, high efficiency HVAC systems, and LED lighting were included in the design of the operations building. Antiterrorism/force measures including conventional standoff distances from roads and parking areas were also incorporated into the design.
