Rail and Truck Offload Facility

EEI provided the mechanical POL design for a railcar and truck offload facility at Yokota Air Base, Japan. The primary goal of the project was to provide resiliency to the base’s receipt capabilities. The project included the design of two horizontal aboveground storage tanks set in a below-grade concrete vault to allow railcars and fuel transport trucks to offload fuel via gravity into the tanks. Each tank was provided with three vertical turbine transfer pumps. The pumps and pump controls were automated to maximize efficiency, safety, and environmental protections during fuel transfer operations.
